Automations
Automations are planned to respond to account events such as a contact being created, an opportunity changing stage, or a task becoming due.
How Automations Work
An automation has three parts:
- Trigger — The event that starts it (contact created, stage changed, date reached)
- Conditions — Optional filters (only for contacts in "Enterprise" segment, only if deal value > $5k)
- Actions — What happens (assign task, send email, update field, notify team)
Common Automations
New contact follow-up : Trigger: Contact created : Action: Assign a "Follow up" task to the account owner, due in 2 days
Stage change notification : Trigger: Opportunity stage changed to "Won" : Action: Notify the team in Slack, create a "Kickoff call" task
Stale deal alert : Trigger: Deal in same stage for 14 days : Action: Assign a "Check in" task to the deal owner
Before Automations Launch
Document the trigger, conditions, action, owner, expected result, and failure-handling rule for each process you want to automate. Start with recurring work that already has a stable manual procedure.
